This beginner-friendly workshop helps participants build confidence using their sewing machine as a practical tool. We’ll cover how to thread a machine\, what common stitch settings actually do\, how to handle different fabrics\, and how to avoid (or fix) the most common beginner problems. Participants will leave with practical knowledge they can use immediately for mending\, hemming\, and everyday projects. \nNo prior sewing experience needed! \nPlease bring: \n\nYour sewing machine\nMachine manual (printed or digital) if you have it\nA spool of all-purpose polyester thread\n1-2 Bobbins that fit your machine\nA universal needle (size 80/12 or 90/14)\n\nIf you have trouble obtaining any of these ahead of the class\, please reach out to the tool library at Carlisletoollibrary@gmail.com. The tool library also has limited sewing machines that could be used for class\, if you do not have your own.

DESCRIPTION:Fix-It Fairs are fun\, inclusive\, volunteer-driven events that bring communities together to fix\, repair and mend!\n\n\n At the Fix-It-Fair\, volunteers and professionals will provide free repairs and coaching to participants interested in learning how to make their own repairs. \nWe’ll have professionals on site to assist in a diverse range of repairs\, such as bikes\, clothing or lamps!  Bring in what’s broken\, and we’ll try to help you fix it! \nParticipants will be limited and spaced out throughout the event\, so sign up early to reserve your time slot. \nIf you plan on bringing something to fix\, please let us know ahead of time via Phone\, Facebook or at carlisletoollibrary@gmail.com.
